MWC2026 Shanghai | Intelligent Digital Ultrasound Reshapes the Healthcare Ecosystem: MedAI Intelligence Joins Huawei to Usher in a New Era of AI B2B Growth

脉得智能

On June 24, MWC2026 Shanghai opened grandly. As Huawei's core medical AI partner, MedAI Intelligence made a prominent appearance in the exhibition area, comprehensively showcasing its independently developed IAS-pe Intelligent Ultrasound-Assisted Screening System and LUMI+ Ultrasound Agent. The company was also invited to deliver a keynote speech at the GSMA Industry Intelligent Leap Summit. Vice President Chen Zhi took the stage to present a major thematic sharing, with core content drawn from Intelligent Digital Ultrasound: Reshaping the Healthcare Ecosystem and Ushering in a New Era of B2B Growth, an article written by Chairman Chen Yonghong at Huawei's invitation. The article has now been included in the authoritative industry publication Huawei Technical Review, becoming a benchmark case for AI+healthcare applications.

Industry Trend Insights: Medical Consortium Development Drives Ultrasound Services from Point-of-Care Diagnosis and Treatment Toward Regional Collaboration

China's healthcare sector is currently entering a critical period of high-quality development. Under the national policy framework of “strengthening primary care, stabilizing secondary care, and controlling tertiary care,” tiered diagnosis and treatment, mutual recognition of examination and test results, and the development of closely integrated medical consortia are continuing to advance. The focus of healthcare service capacity building is shifting from departmental efficiency within individual hospitals to collaborative efficiency across the regional “lead hospital–primary care institution–public health system.” Non-invasive, portable, and cost-effective, ultrasound is a core modality for primary care screening, early tumor screening, and other scenarios. With clear divisions of responsibility among healthcare institutions at different levels within medical consortia, the downward extension of high-quality medical resources urgently requires standardized intelligent digital ultrasound infrastructure that can operate across institutions. The industry currently faces three major pain points: inconsistent quality control standards, shortages of primary care ultrasound physicians, and a mismatch between screening demand and traditional capacity. Standalone equipment cannot achieve regional collaboration. MedAI Intelligence's collaboration with Huawei and telecom operators is intended to address these industry bottlenecks.

AI-Empowered Ultrasound Demonstrates Product Strength

At the exhibition, the MedAI Intelligence booth attracted numerous attendees, with two core products becoming focal points of the event: the IAS-pe Health Management Intelligent Ultrasound Screening Foundation Model and the LUMI+ Ultrasound Agent.

Trained on tens of millions of de-identified gold-standard cases, the IAS-pe Health Management Intelligent Ultrasound Screening Foundation Model can identify 11 categories of organs, including the thyroid, breast, and abdomen, in real time. It automatically captures standard views, screens for tiny lesions of 2-3 mm, and generates standardized reports automatically with millisecond-level response times, providing a one-stop solution to the lack of quality control and low efficiency in health examinations and primary care screening.

Positioned as an intelligent assistant for ultrasound physicians, the LUMI+ Ultrasound Agent emphasizes human-machine collaboration rather than replacing physicians. Deeply integrated with physicians' actual scanning workflows, it can analyze ultrasound video streams in real time, automatically detect suspicious lesions, identify standard views, and assist in retaining key images. Physicians can also interact with it through voice commands. Upon completion of an examination, LUMI+ can automatically generate standardized ultrasound reports based on the complete scanning process, substantially reducing physicians' workload for report compilation and entry. Throughout the process, LUMI+ maintains a simple and natural interaction approach without disrupting normal scanning workflows, making ultrasound examinations more efficient, standardized, and intelligent.

Three-in-One Ecosystem Collaboration: The “1+3+N” Model Accelerates Implementation

At the Industry Intelligent Leap Summit, Vice President Chen Zhi shared the company's strategic roadmap in detail. MedAI Intelligence has established a development path centered on “technology enablement, deep scenario engagement, and ecosystem collaboration,” and boldly proposed a “1+3+N” comprehensive coverage and promotion model: building regional intelligent digital ultrasound platforms with health commissions or lead hospitals of medical consortia as entry points; taking AI quality control, AI-assisted diagnosis, and intelligent screening as core capabilities; and using township health centers, community health service centers, health examination institutions, and specialty scenarios as nodes for large-scale deployment. The core of this solution lies in embedding AI capabilities throughout the ultrasound workflow. Through “full-process intelligent quality control” and “precise assisted diagnosis,” it achieves “intelligent standardization” of ultrasound diagnosis and helps healthcare institutions improve quality and efficiency.

Under this model, Huawei provides the Ascend computing foundation and a cloud-edge-device collaborative technical architecture, while telecom operators leverage their comprehensive dedicated networks, local reach, and ongoing operational capabilities to bridge the “last mile.” Together, the three parties form combined capabilities encompassing “AI applications + computing foundation + comprehensive dedicated networks + local delivery,” driving intelligent digital ultrasound from individual hospital applications toward regional healthcare capacity building. The complete solution has been deployed at more than 100 Grade A tertiary hospitals, including West China Hospital, Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital, and 301 Hospital, as well as in nearly 100 district- and county-level medical consortia. Following deployment, departmental quality control efficiency has increased by 80%, repetitive work for medical staff has been reduced by 70%, and a single hospital can save several million yuan annually in quality control operating costs, creating a three-way win-win outcome of improved hospital quality, reduced physician workload, and accessible, precise screening for the public.

In the short term, we plan to deploy at more than 100 benchmark hospitals and nearly 100 district- and county-level medical consortia; in the medium term, we aim to replicate the model across more than 200 cities nationwide; and in the long term, we will promote the establishment of industry standards for intelligent ultrasound diagnosis and treatment, connecting healthcare, health examination, and public health data across the entire health ecosystem. Going forward, MedAI Intelligence will continue working with Huawei and telecom operators to accelerate the large-scale implementation of AI ultrasound in medical consortia, health examination centers, and primary public health settings. It will continuously iterate the full IAS-pe and LUMI+ product portfolio, opening new healthcare B2B growth opportunities for telecom operators through intelligent digital ultrasound and supporting the implementation of tiered diagnosis and treatment and Healthy China.
